Some people bought a PS3 just for MGS4, and you won't be disappointed! I of course bought a PS3 for many other great games, but MGS4 is THE game, the best game! There is no better game on PS3 as of 2008 than MGS4.
As soon as i fired up this game on my PS3 i was confused. It started out with commercials, so i asked myself, is this MGS4? Hell yeah it is! After that came one of the best intro's ever in a game. And right after that the game turns into real time, showing you the intro was 100% real time. This game looks even better than Gears of War 2 and there is 0 slow down.
This game runs good on PS3, but god dam with the installs! So annoying having to install every time you start a new chapter. They take long too! Seriously, what the hell?
Looks is not everything this game has going for. The sound is really great, and if you don't like it then you can take out snakes ipod and listen to something else! Only annoying thing is Sunny, and the beauties...
As good as MGS4 is, it's not perfect. There are a couple of negative things to this game like the codec. There are only 2 people you can call now. Come on, there used to be more in past games! Another thing are some of the cut scenes. No, not because they are long, but because they are dumb. Like that scene with Meryl and Johnny were they are talking about marriage while getting shot, or that one with Raiden shooting lightning or holding off a boat 10000 times bigger then him...l..o..l..
The Story was very weird. Even weirder than MGS2's story. Kojima has lost his mind. I'm used to MGS having a weird story... i guess its part of the series.
MGS games are known for having some really cool boss battles and MGS4 has some cool ones too. Like the final battle against Vamp and the Metal Gear Rex Vs Metal Gear Ray battle was awesome! The beauty battles in the other hand were... annoying. They are so repetitive when they die, it's always the same thing. And what's with the sound they make when they die? It sounds like they are getting... well you know...
But the single player is not all, it's not over yet!!! Oh sorry i just had a flash back of Liquid Ocelot... Anyway! As i was saying there is something else called Metal Gear Online. It's free to play and... well i didn't like it. I played it for 6 hours and it was weak and laggy. Very few will like MGO.
It took me about 20 hours to beat it on my first play through. But beating this game one time is very little. With all the hidden stuff like emblems, and ipod songs i beat it a ton of times. 13 times in one month.
There is just so much value to this game. If you don't have it... then what are you waiting for? Go buy this game! This might be the last MGS game, or there might be a MGS5 with a Cyborg Snake. With Kojima you never know... wait no, that would suck. Good bye Snake... it's been a hell of a ride.
