Mercenaries is a highly addictive war sim set in the near future. There are plenty of explosions too.

Mercenaries is a game set in the near future with a North Korean dictator preparing to start a nuclear war. You play as one of three Mercenaries involved in the conflict and out to nab a $100,000,000 bounty on the dictator's head. But you probably already know that if your reading this. Mercenaries has graphics that are perfect; not too real, but not so bad they hurt your eyes. The sound could be better, but I'm not complaining because it doesn't hurt the experience. This game actually encourages you to use cheats, which I am quite fond of. There are some small flaws, however. One problem is that you can only carry two weapons at a time, although I don't mind much since it would slow down the action if you had to scroll through a weapons menu to find the gun you want. There are a few audio glitches. In the PS2 version, the shotgun has no sound when it fires. I have also found objects like tables and assault rifles floating in the air. Another annoyance is "collateral damage". Once, when I was sneaking through a Chinese
compound, they started to open fire on me. I sought shelter behind a building, and civilians ran from the grenade launchers. One explosion killed a civilian. I was charged 10,000 bucks even though it wasn't my fault. Other civilian goofs include poor pathfinding which can cause problems on destroyed bridges. Overall, Mercenaries is a great game that I would recommend to any fan of shooters or destrction.
