One of the best games for xbox.

The game Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is one of the best free roaming action adventures out there. It is just so much fun to play. The back story on the game is that the president of North Korea wants to seek a peaceful resolution to the end of the Korean conflict. His son, General Song, does not want peace to happen. How does he make sure that peace does not happen? He kills his own father and becomes the ruler of North Korea. He then starts building WMD's and selling them to terrorists. You come into the story as a mercenary who is asked to capture General Song. To do this though, you have to progress through the Deck of 52. This is reminiscent of the same deck of 52 used in Iraq. You must progress through the clubs, diamonds, aces and spades to go after Song, who is the Ace of Spades (think Saddam here). The game may seem to be a GTA clone, but it is definitely not. There are some similarities, but Mercenaries is set up in a more linear fashion than any of the Grand Theft Autos. There are many weapons that you can acquire as you go through the game as well. From AK-47's to RPGs, you can have a lot of fun in taking out the Deck of 52. The game, though, encourages you to capture these men alive because you get a bounty on each 'card' you capture. If you capture them, you get the full price, but if you kill them, you get half of the full price. The gameplay is very satisfying in all of the many facets of the game. From shooting to driving to flying, the controls work perfectly. The shooting is well done in that there is no auto aiming function, which actually makes the game better, in that you have to work a little to kill people. The driving and flying is also well done as well. The controls for both work well and you can have a lot of fun just driving or flying around the map. The graphics are excellent and you will not be disappointed with the many explosions that you can create. The sound effects and music are amazing and it works perfectly with the game. The music is perfect and it captures the perfect mood of the game, whether you are in a firefight or just driving around the countryside. To conclude, if you have not played this game and have been wanting to, I would definitely purchase this game and own everyone in the game with your awesome skills of shooting and driving.
