A blue guy running around shooting enemies through pull-your-hair-out challenging stages? It's Mega Man alright.

Yikes, I can't believe I just finished Mega Man, a game I have played numerous times, but never actually beat. But now I have, and I've said this before, the feeling of beating a Mega Man game...that's something else. I must say that this is one of those that balances on the thinnest of lines between challenging and frustrating, often tipping over and being the latter. Yeah, there's plenty of cheap deaths here. Unlike in some of the later games, spikes kill you instantly, there was some chance if you got hit by an enemy right before hitting the spikes, the brief moment of invincibility could save you, not here, an enemy knocks you back into some spikes, you're dead.

That being said, it's Mega Man, it's supposed to be challenging, and it does overdo the challenge factor every now and then, but let me tell you, I am a very average skilled gamer, just don't give up and replay a stage a hundred times if you have to, it is manageable. The bosses vary in difficulty, some go down with only 3 hits of the right weapon, others are a lot harder. Yes, the yellow devil is here, the same is the clone battle, the final boss battle is not THAT tricky though. Anyway, this is a piece of gaming history, the first Mega Man game to the NES, and hardcore fans should definitely revisit this old school greatness, casual gamers could check it out as well, but be warned, it is really difficult.
