X and Zero's last adventure on the Super Nintendo has to be their best one yet.

User Rating: 9 | RockMan X3 SNES
Before X and Zero's big move to the PlayStation, Capcom went at it again with the 3rd installment of the MegaMan X series. While much has not changed when it comes to both the gameplay and controls, it still makes up for it due to the challenge that X3 provides and the action that made the X series so popular in the 90s.

As any game from the X series (or any MegaMan game), 8 bosses await you that can be selected at any time. From there you move from left to right while shooting enemies until you reach the boss of a level. Defeat him and you gain an extra weapon to X's arsenal to which you can lay waste to the next boss. That is, if the weapon you earned is the next boss's weakness.

The only major changes or additions to the game are obviously the armors, most particularly the leg upgrade lets you do an air dash straight into the air. However this time instead of obtaining just the main armor, you can upgrade either 4 parts to be more powerful than the other OR if you are patient, upgrade everything to obtain an extremely, powerful gold armor that will really assist you upon reaching the final areas of the game. But the biggest asset is pretty much, a beta of what X4 became: the ability to play as Zero. At any time you can switch between X and Zero who is a blast to play as, though you must be extra careful with him cause the outcome would show at the climax. The only disappointing part about playing as Zero is that you can't fight bosses with him, with the exception of one.

The rich colors and 16-bit sounds are as beautiful as they have ever been in MegaMan X3. Hell, they're even better than the PS1 and Sega Saturn versions which only has anime cutscenes and the great music from the SNES has been replaced with remixes which aren't that good. The SNES version, in my opinion, is far better than those 2.

This was the last MegaMan X game for the Super Nintendo and needless to say, Capcom made sure that their last entry before moving onto the PlayStation was a memorable one. New armors, new secrets to find, the ability to play as Zero and more action than ever before from any of the X games. What more do you need? Just do yourself a favor and play the original SNES version.
