One of the easier Mega Man games, but the experience is timeless. An old-school classic.

Mega Man 3's only fault is that in comparison to the first game it is much much easier. However, it actually improves much of what made the first game so great. The graphics, the actual boss names and designs and even the soundtrack are way better than what the original game had to offer. These things are some of the reasons why this is one of the best games of all time.

Being on a Nintendo, the story for Mega Man 3 wasn't expected to be that amazing, and it isn't. Once again Dr. Wily made 8 robots for you to destroy, and he wants to take over the world. Cliche and boring, but not unexpected.

The gameplay is where this title shines. Although it will be very easy to an experienced gamer, the experience of playing the game far outweighs this con. It is one of the more enjoyable platformers of all time, despite its age. Every stage has a distinct feeling to it and you are always engaged in getting to the end of the level to fight the unique and memorable bosses. The only real difficult parts are in Dr. Wily's stages, but with a little time they can be overcome. The only new additions to the formula this time around are the slide move and the return of the Rush upgrades that help Mega Man traverse the environments. You get to fight Proto Man in this game, and when you beat all 8 bosses you get to fight through "remixed" stages of 4 of the 8 bosses that include two Mega Man 2 bosses per stage. These levels are actually pretty difficult and are incredibly nostalgiac and fun to play through. Admittedly there is no replayability once you've beaten the game, but who really cares.

The music is easily one of the best in any video game ever. This is especially impressive considering the poor sound quality of the system. Songs like Snake Man's Theme, Top Man's Theme or Spark Man's Theme will easily be stuck in your head. They perfectly capture the feel of the game and the specific environments they're in, and all in all make the game that much better than it should be. The sound effects, although not changed much from the other 2 games, still sound great because if it isn't broken then don't fix it.

The characters are easily the best ones in the entire Mega Man universe, with those in Mega Man 2 coming in at a close second. Bosses like Snake Man, Proto Man, Gemini Man, Spark Man, Top Man... these are classic icons in gaming. And, of course, there's Mega Man who never gets old.

If you love video games, and especially Mega Man, you can't go wrong with Mega Man 3. It's one of the most fun games in existence and despite it's very easy difficulty it is a pleasure to play through every time you try it. It's a game that never gets old. The only reason it doesn't score higher is that because it's so easy and short that it lacks the kind of value that Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros. 3 presented (those games are MUCH longer and MUCH harder). Also, the actual level designs, although beautiful, are very basic and not very challenging. There wasn't a lot of creativity involved with the platforming elements. All things aside, Mega Man 3 remains a a great game that any video game lover needs to play at least once.
