The first in a series of classics!!
The Storyline Is a simple one. A good scientist, Dr. Wright, creates a good robot. Dr. Wily, an evil scientist, makes bad counterparts to take him down. When Mega Man defeats one of his evil counterparts, he gains their special abilities to use against the other bots. Because mega man is built like a normal person and the moves/options he starts with he's easy to compare oneself with. (one of the tricks Mr Miyamoto and his nintendo colleagues introduced to the industry) All he can do is shoot and jump, nothing more. (His K9 companion and the other tricks up his sleeve would be introduced gradualy) When I first played this game I felt like I'd never finish it. Even though you could easily predict the games of those days it was still quite a challenge.
The graphics are quite basic but that goes for most NES games of the day. But for the day Mega Man and the bosses all look great. The animations were well done. The stages and the backgrounds looked a little bland, but that’s taking into account the limitations. Later titles in this series would evolve the Megaman universe on the NES into an even better graphically pleasing world.
I love the music for Mega Man, as well as every other Mega Man game that came after. One of the best things about this game. You can really get into every stage, even as simple as the music is.
Mega man 1 can be seen as a must play in the list of Nintendo classics. A great thing now that the Wii is coming.
