The Blue Bomber returns to his roots, creating an addictive platformer and another successful installment in the series.

Mega Man has been a successful franchise since 1987. With 2008's Mega Man 9, which returned Mega Man back to 8-bit form, being the first game in the original series since 1998, Capcom decided to give the Blue Bomber's 8-bit stylings another chance, and needless to say, it worked incredibly well.

The story begins with Roll, Mega Man's sister, coming home not feeling so well. After a while, the disease is revealed to be called "Roboenza", a form of the Influenza virus, which only affects robots. Dr. Wily is later taken to the ground by an infected robot and offers to find a cure, sending Mega Man to find the parts necessary to build one. Immediately after leaving, Mega Man is greeted by his brother, Proto Man, who offers to help. It's unusual for Proto Man to do something like this, but he's got his motives, being the mysterious character he is.

Mega Man veterans will feel right at home with the gameplay, with the same side-scrolling action from the first games. It's still the basic formula of going through 8 Robot Bosses in any order you choose, beating them, and moving onto the final 4-8 stages. Although the game may look and play the same, Mega Man 10 is more accessible to newcomers, offering the "Easy Mode". Easy Mode covers most of the instant-death spikes and bottomless pits that would impede the casual gamer's progress. This may not sound like much, but the game is actually noticeably easier, allowing Mega Man newbies to see the end of the game. You are also given the option to play as Proto Man, who was only available as Downloadable Content in Mega Man 9, but now he is a fully playable character. He has the slide from Mega Man 3, the Charge Shot from Mega Man 4, and his Proto-Shield, giving him the ability to reflect projectiles and protect himself from damage in the air. However, when you play as Proto Man, it won't be reflected in your rankings, making him just one of the bells and whistles of the game.

The music in this game sounds great. This is probably some of the most epic music in any Mega Man game, maybe even surpassing even the soundtracks of the earlier Mega Man games, like 2 and 3. All the old sound effects are still here, from the sound that plays when Mega Man's particles are scattered across the screen when you lose all your energy to even the little things like a Met firing one of it's shots.

This is a must-have for any Mega Man fan or somebody just looking for a fun game to play. The easy mode makes it more accessable, the graphics and sound work great, and it's an experience that not even a single person should miss out on.
