Medal of Honor Airborne Singleplayer Review

My main thought concerning this game is that it was ok. Not great by any means, but not that bad either.
The main aim of the game is to drop in by parachute and kill Germans. As with previous medal of honor games, there are several objectives such as destroying artillery or anti aircraft guns. There is quite alot of freedom when it comes to the objectives. You can land pretty much where you want and attempt the objectives in any order. However if you land outside the green smoke areas, you will most likely be under enemy fire in a few seconds. In the beginning of the game you fight against the Italians. I thought that was a cool change to bring to a ww2 game. There are quite a few different units when it comes to the Germans. There should have been more though. Unfortunately most of the units lacked the detail to be able to tell them apart from other units. The graphics in the game were quite poor. I cant recall any specific glitches. The game had no nazi insignia, this simply takes away from the games authenticity.
The AI was pretty good, especially the enemy snipers. The guns in the game didnt really feel right. The recoil on the sub machine guns was too much and the aim seemed to be slightly off target. I used the sprinfield sniper rifle for most of the game. The usual selection of ww2 weapons were available. You can also pick up weapons of the enemies you have killed. As with all medal of honor games, theres not a drop of blood in this game. Once again this decision takes away from the games authenticity.
The parachute concept worked quite well. It definately added another dimension to the game. The story is basically based on operation market garden and other allied ww2 missions. The first few missions of the game were fairly stale and boring. When I was about half way through the game, I found myself wondering whether it was worth finishing. I;m glad i continued because the gameplay improves alot as you get to the last few levels. I remember there being alot of tense firefights. The cover system is pretty good. You can lean around corners out of cover and shoot which is quite essential.
The sound in the game was adequate, neither good or bad.
Theres not really much replay value of the game. I;d maybe play it through once more. Apart from online play, once youve finished the campaign thats about it; not much else to do. The campaign is a decent length though.
I think that this game is definately worth renting, or if you find it cheap for sale its worth buying. I think the team behind medal of honor could definately come up with a better offering for the next game. I hope to see some neccessary improvements put in place.
