Katamari makes a surprise return in its third installment!

User Rating: 8.6 | Me & My Katamari PSP
I'd be wrong to call myself a Katamari fan because I never embraced its childlike wackiness until the 2nd game, "We Love Katamari". A few years ago, I picked up the display case for "Katamari Damacy", skimmed the back article, placed it back on the shelf and walked away. If it weren't for the demo disc included in Soul Calibur III, I never would've given the game a second chance. So there was absolutely no way I would pass up "Me and My Katamari" for the PSP.

For anybody who has played both or either of the previous games, it's no different for the PSP. However, you will realize how much easier and comfortable it was playing on the PS2 controller's duo analog sticks. Obviously, the PSP only has a flat analog stick on the left so great improvisations were made. Now, you must control the Katamari with the directional and control pad.

At first, it's difficult to control the direction of the katamari with up = Triangle, left + Square, down + X, right + O. Even after managing to do the simplest request, you'll get the hang of it. Your only problem is how painful your hands will get if you play even an hour session. Honestly, as much as I love the PSP, it's not built for Katamari's gamplay. The rest of your hand will try to cradle the PSP while your thumbs and often your index fingers scramble to make it go sideways and whatnot.

Presentation and sound, once again, is the game's strongest point. Don't you dare pass up on the opening, it's just funny to watch. The oddly rendered but colorful environments is supported by the fun and quirky Japanese pop music, which you can choose for each request. And don't forget those cousins! In addition to doing requests, you must help The Prince find his cousins. It won't be fun letting The Prince do all the work. Again, even more new cousins are introduced to the PSP with a couple returning from its predecessors.

If the simplistic gameplay and childlike presentation doesn't appeal to you, you know you're not a gamer to not give this game a chance. If it's for your girlfriend, your lil brother or sister or for yourself, it's definitely worth getting.
