Boring and cumbersome !

I don`t like FPS as a rule. They are cumbersome, with bad maps, poor team members AI, etc. Mass Effect is the same. You can`t control directly the team members, same as 10 years ago. The inventory is badly done, with a overflows of useless items. Pause is more a joke, because you don`t freeze the game, just stop it until everyone get something to do. No in game save, just mindless shooting. The targeting system leave a lot to improve, with no reticules or a way to track down enemies. The combat feel as bad as ever - crouching, sniping, trying hard to notice where the enemy is hiding and shooting to you, a lot of keys to press in order to activate a power while keeping a eye on the field, going around rocks and walls to avoid being seen (but you are !), etc. Just like a multiplayer FPS.
Weapons/skills don`t have any significant added power with upgrades, the idea of infinite ammunition is a bad call, leveling your characters is rather clunky and not really interesting. The mini game with electronics and closed crates is boring, to say a least and you not even have the year 2010 technology to control the field and move into the enemy areas. They have cutting edge space technology inside Normandy, but ground troops can`t deploy drones, small surveillance satellites, thermo/synthetic seeker devices, intelligent weapons and tech - no ! Just assault riffles, shotguns, biotics/electronic powers and such, especially weapons with heating issues ! That`s the only way they tried to put a dent in your click fest !
Conversation are without purpose, because everyone start blabbing about less-that-important issues. Commander Shepard have no idea what questions he need to ask the survivors and there is no creative way to put in practice the little you get, since combat is so ... straightforward.
There is no looting, pressing E become fast annoying and the feeling is they added everything in one package.
The story and cutscenes save the game, but I want to be honest. The grade 6 is only for those two above, nothing else.
