While it's nice to play it again, this version removes many features that drastically reduce the fun involved.

On the short, this is partially the same game you played back when it was first release, and it's probably cheaper than what you originally paid for it, which is good. But a few stripped out features cause the enjoyment and longevity of the game to be drastically undercut.

The six button fighting system from the Street Fighter vs X-Men game has been removed replaced with only four buttons. Now, for new people to the game, this could remove some difficulty from playing the game as it would be conceivably simpler, however this reduces the amount of attacks you can do at any given time and how you choose to implement them. It only offers an awkward replacement for it; hurt hands. The positions of the buttons feel somewhat unusual and slightly painful at times to utilize, and instead of using all the buttons on the controller, it just leaves you with buttons you could have used for better things. Had they taken the time to improve upon it when porting it, by all means this would be great. I'm sure everyone could agree. But now, it's painful and distracting from something that could be much easier and more fun; which is odd, because with two buttons removed, it was already supposed to be simpler.

It also just gives you the ability to fight. That's it. Instead of earning points while fighting, to unlock extra players and costumes, or game modes, all you get is basically random 3 on 3 battles. And that's it; random 3 on 3 battles. Because this meat has been pulled away, and offers little more than the base features, you probably will feel cheated by paying for a lesser version of a game you liked. If there was something more to do than random battles, it would be great; but the ball was dropped.
