Disappointing followup

I'm a fan of X-Men Legends 1&2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1, but this is just a let down. Visually, it looks better than the others but the gameplay has changed for the worse. The CHOICE of powers has decreased, amount of costumes decreased Equipment gone(those medals don't count), the position of the team in relation to the d-pad is stupid are among some of the things hindering this from feeling like a complete game. Every time I played the first training mission, it locks up during the fusion portion. Speaking of fusions, it's a nice new feature but is very limited nor as unique as you would expect. I personally think they could have chosen better characters in this series as well. I played up until the point where you choose which side you want to fight on and began to lose interest. The progression from X-men Legends to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 was a good step in the right direction but they really screwed up in this sequel. I know people complain that some series can become stale or rehash the same crap over and over again but there is a wise saying in that "if it aint broke, dont fix it". Clearly the devs should have followed the latter. This is a rental at best and only if you liked the other games in the series.
