Mario Tennis was a great game for the N64. It was fun, addicting, and just overall nice. After releasing gamecube, nintendo was bound to make a new Mario Tennis. So, they did. They released Mario POWER tennis. The game is overall fun, nice, and addicting on some sorts, but after a while it just feels a bit obsolete. The game is technically great, but you just don't get that feeling you did while playing the original N64 version. Although the Mario Tennis generation of N64 shined brightly, this one, however, just gives off a slighter shine. The power shots, a new feature, really puts a defect in the gameplay because it makes get the felling like they put this feature in there just for the sake of a new feature. Hey, I would hav been fine if they just ported the original and upgraded the graphics and all.

The graphics are good, probably one of the best parts of the game, and the sound is good as well. But the gameplay, it just feels, well, different in a weird way. After playing the orignal several times, you'd understand.
The multiplayer is fun, but one thing I don't understand is why the tournament mode is only single player? It would be awesome on multiplayer!

Overall, Mario Power Tennis fails to accompany the greatness of the original, but it still is a solid game, and if you've never played the N64 one, you'll probably love it. It is worth playing, and some new features are good. Even though you can turn off the power shots, it still just dosen't have the addiction the first had. It's strange but true. Definitely worth the play, but not to the comparison of the first.
