Mario Power tennis is another great mario sports game. This game definently tops Mario Golf and Mario Strikers but I havent decided if it is better than Mario Baseball yet. One of my favorite things about this game is the tons of different gameplay modes. It has an exhibition mode where you can play with 1-4 players. In the exhibition you also have a variety of different modes you can play. you can play standard tennis, you can play on the gimmick court (special courts with twists), you can play the ring game where you try to hit the ball through rings and reach a set score, and you can play item battle where you get items (like mario kart) and use them to your advantage. It has a tournament mode where you go through different difficulty levels and defeat different characters on different courts to unlock new characters, courts, and mini-games. I think the tournament mode wasnt that fun and is no comparison to Mario Baseball's Challenge mode. On tournament mode and exhibition you can also play singles or doubles which provide 2 completely different game experiences. It has a special game mode that has some OK minigames. None of the minigames really impressed me but they can be fun for a short period of time. The game offers a great variety of courts and characters. Each court has a normal court and/or gimmick court all with different bounces and ball speeds. There is a decent selection of characters which includes:

All the characters have different abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and power shots. The power shots are activated after you get a few good hits and can be used offensively, for a fast or tricky shot, or defensively, to save a ball that gets by you. The difficulty varies greatly depending on which difficulty you choose and on the controls you choose. you can choose between easy, normal, and technical controls.
