A great mini game collection

User Rating: 8 | Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games DS
You probably have played plenty of games like this already, because its yet another mini game collection! But lets face it; the DS is great for touch-screen mini games, and this features the usual collection of Mario & Sonic characters. This time they are trying their hand at Olympic Games which consists of Athletics, Aquatics, Gymnastics, Archery, Table Tennis, Fencing, Shooting, and Cycling. The characters have various attributes and are categorised as Speed, Power, Skill, or All Around. At first, you may think that choosing Sonic for the 100m Sprint is the obvious choice, but the game keeps track of who won what. You basically get achievements for getting gold on each event per character; so there is an incentive to win an event with all characters. The Athletics events is basically sliding back and forth on the touch screen as fast as you can, but sometimes you have 'stamina' so have to slow down to recover. Aquatics is the same idea but drawing a pattern over the touch-screen to swim. Gymnastics is about certain touch-screen gestures and timing. Archery is about judgement and timing. Table Tennis is played with the buttons. Fencing is played using touch-screen gestures. Shooting is similar to archery but requires more reactions. Cycling is like the athletic events but uses the shoulder buttons. In addition, there are some extra mini games to unlock . Overall, the game has enough variety and content to justify acquiring this game if you are looking for a good mini-game collection.
