Sick, twisted, horrid, gory and.....wonderful!
The game has a great mix of stealth, action and scares, from beginning to end.
the story: you are James Earl Cash, a man belived to be dead since his *execution*.
what the world don't know is that the injection you got was only a strong sedative and you have been selected to fight for your life, you see, darkwoods staff is corrupt and a man named Starkwater is paying them to supply him with people to star in his snuff movies. you will have to main, fight and slaughter your way to freedom, with some nice twists and scares.
The gameplay: Amazing, since you're fighting against overwhelming odds, you have to employ stealth tactics to survive and show off for the camera while you do it. The game has a *execution system* that will allow you to decide how gory your sneak kills will be, the longer you wait, the better.
and with a big array of weapons (including machete) you are to kill your enemies and complete different objectives.
What differs from most games is that Cash is not a super hero, he can't take very much damage and if he gets to fight more than one hunter he will have to run away. the camera is a little unwieldy, but you can peek around corners and go into first person mode to make it easier.
the game has a semi-realistic damage sim, if you shoot someone in the head with the shotgun you will see the head blow away like it's real, but that about covers it, there is no damage sim otherwise.
And some of the executions is unrealistic. (try getting the meter to yellow using sickle..ouch)
you can also use lures to get the hunter to your position like bricks, cans and HEADS.
the grapichs: good, Cash is well made and the hunters he face are well done, the gore could be a little better but overall it;s great.
sounds: overall the voiceacting is a little much, but the sound effects are good and you can really feel stressed when you're walking through a dark hall and suddenly hear a grunt.
Lenght : it took me three days to finish on my first run, but since hardcore is a hell of a lot harder you can spend very much time on this, and it got a sick replay value since you want to see all the different executions.
get this game, you won't regret it if you can handle it.
