I'm gonna try to simplify this review to Pros and Cons.

Pros: Smooth, consistent framerate all throughout each game. My Player mode is addictive. Graphics are sharp. Hitter/pitcher duels are realistic. Total control batting is better tuned and not canned anymore. Pitching is easier and more intuitive. Announcers are tremendous even if John Kruk is a Debbie downer for every team or batter. No more home run slug fests. Players don't run through each other anymore. Tons of new fielding and batting animations. Signature styles for every player are a great staple of the series. Fixed most of the fielding glitches. Stat tracking is great and is updated instantly while in game. MLB.COM and other sports tickers are useful. Living rosters is legit this year which also comes with player progression.

Cons: Still some awkard moments in fielding with fielders not taking the right angles and catching the ball in odd positions. Balls seem to never come out of the hand right when thrown. No way to allow the ball through the cut off man when the ball is in the air. No check swings. Defensive swings are pointless because you have to predetermine whether you want to use it. Still a little tough to throw certain sliders and curveballs. Stealing bases is still next to impossible. Batting in the game is extremely tough once you up the difficulty above Pro. Gap in difficult between Pro and All Star is big on default sliders.
