Fans/Players/Ex-Players (like myself) will love it. Reminded me of a time when cards didn't always mean money!

For your $14 NZD (just more than half that for all you US'ites) you are given an easily understandable highly addictive of the Magic the Gathering card game.

Personally I havn't played Magic for years. In fact I had almost forgotton about that magical card game. I was right into it "back in the day" and thus used to play it almost every day trading cards etc. There have been a few Magic games throughout the years none of which had that ease of use I was looking for. Clumsy interfaces were the primary contributor to my dis-content. However, I came across this hidden gem while browsing my xbox live menu's accidentaly while fumbling to get the telly on. The old CRT telly sprung into life and I was presented with the option to download Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers. "Why not?" I thought to myself!

So a 280mb file downloads overnight....Joking - NZ's not that backwards it took 10min before I was underway. I was prompted to start a tutorial. Which easily "refreshed" my foggy memory of the game. There is the standard sleek 360 graphics that you are or should be familiar with by now. A somewhat repeditive soundtrack that is best replaced by your own music streamed over the network (I love technology nowadays). There is a "campaign" mode consisting of various opponents with different decks/styles/difficulty levels etc. You yourself have a number of unlockable decks each with 17 unlockable cards "special" in it. Surprisingly there is a co-op campaign mode in which yourself and a friend can play over xbox live. Also the online vs mode can be fun battling a number of real opponents. This abriptly stoped my winning streak against the computer opponents and made me realise that I am not as good as I thought! There is a deck editor mode in which you can edit/change decks etc and effectively build your own.

All in all exactly what Magic the Gathering used to be like in the golden years bar the annoyances of shuffling/cleaning up and having to find someone to play with as we all know that playing with yourself never fails. If you like Magic and have an Xbox its well worth it. If in doubt get the free demo then it is only a matter of unlocking it for the fee.

Thanks for Reading
