Madden football goes back a long time. It’s the only football that lasted on the PC. I’ve always had a love hate for Madden, I love the game, but just hate to listen to Madden. Now that I’m playing my sports game on the Xbox, I have a lot of choices for football, and after playing ESPN Football 2005, Madden starting to look old and dated. The game just doesn’t seem as polished as the ESPN game. The graphics are not as nice, and the presentation is not even close. What I do like about Madden is that it still has a fun, even though a lot easier, passing game. It’s just not as frustrating to pass the ball in Madden that it is in ESPN. The menus in Madden are also very dated, and I think are in need of a full overhaul. I didn’t dig the music much either, just sound like a lot of noise. The franchise mode was cool, and a lot better done then they are in ESPN. The game play I think is a lot arcadeier then in ESPN, but playing multiplayer would be much more fun in Madden. ESPN is just to much like a sim sometimes, and that can get boring. Overall I like Madden, but it’s just starting to look old, and overall ESPN is a better game.
