Great for mediocre, bad for hardcore football/madden fans on the console.
THE GOOD
Good old madden football with the current rosters and francise mode back in action, This game of course is going to be some-what good. New music of course, Better graphics than madden 07 for psp. A few new features were stuffed into the game (I won't tell you what they are as to not possibly spoil it.)
THE BAD
This feels like madden 2003 just with better graphics for an older console. For those of you who truely know the madden controls, on the console you could change the direction in which your running back will go if you think the defence is stacked heavy to one side, that doesn't exist on the psp, maybe because theres only one analog stick? but still that was a major thing to help to bust a game wide open. The game tries to stuff certain manuevers all into the use of one button instead of seperate buttons as they are on console's, which make's it way harder to be able to get them down pat like on the consoles. You can tell there is a lot of features cut out of the game because they couldn't fit it all on the disk, like for instance there weren;t any video tutorials informing you how to work and use the new features and controls, so you had to just figure them out for youself. Also, there's NO CHALLENGING! I mean you can have all kinds of screwed up calls and can't challenge a thing!
ON-LINE (Infrastructure)
This was also disapointing. For a ranked game (meaning a game that will show up on your over-all record) the game HAD to have 5 minute quarters, and you had to "Play Fair" Meaning no going on 4th and inches unless its the end of the 4th quarter. meaning no fake punts, that basically open the game to any-one to be able to win. way-less skill is involved when you force to play like that, because you cannot strategize. Also in order to chat with someone your playing, you have to pause the game and if the other person clicks resume you have but a short amount of time to type in what you wanted to say before you get cut off, and you can only pause the game 3 times! Also, there is no challenging here either, so I guess if somebody has a B.S. call they get away with it!
OVER-ALL
The game still holds a madden charm, and for on the go footbal it is the BEST option out there, but for someone thats a hardcore football/madden fan the game will probably piss you off.
