Fun for newcomers, but maybe not wortha second look for vets

I was a first hesitant to download Lumines Live after reading countless forum postings of how this game simply did not compare to the original for the PSP, and how Microsoft is simply abusing its customers by milking more an more money out of us. then there were people who, simply loved, thougt it was okay, and just thought everyone else were a bunch of cheap sticklers. I finally keeled over after reading the gamespot review (though it was rated as mediocre). The graphics of Lumines Live are interesting, and of course one cannot compare it to a game like oblivion, but it is nice eye candy, though wasting moeny on backgrounds or "skins" might not be worth it as I never really noticed the background. The core gameplay is rather fun, and it can get you hooked provided you havent played this game before (like me). It is rather fun and entertaining, and the single player offers many different challenges, that can award you skins and new songs. though I was a bit disapointed that the challenges didnt really correlate with the achievements, if you're into that kind of stuff. The online multiplayer was way too laggy for me, and it cost all of my losses, and utinl they patch this game I dont think i'll be playing too much multiplayer; but dont get me wrong the concept is really fun, but is bogged down by the lag problems. Though I have not played the original Lumines I have read that the songs accompanied with the skins are catchy and memorable; in Lumines live... not so much. Its nto that its bad but rather its forgettable,a dn someimes a little annoying. Though luckily the game does have some lasting value, as it is still fun, but hopefully it'll improve with future downloads. As for the issue of money, I dont think its in the best interest for Microsoft to play around with its costumers, online transactions can be used to develop a really interesting and dynamic mechanic for games but so far, it has seemed lees useful than anything else. I wouldnt be surprised if Sony and Nintendo, followed suit.
