Has a few flaws but nothing major.

I have loved Lufia since playing Lufia 2,. Everything about this game drips classic Lufia, from the character's looks and monster designs, to the Lufia tie-ins (some older characters come back for a second haul) but the game does have several problems as well.

GAMEPLAY ~
+Positive+
Its almost your basic RPG from the SNES days! Except the battle system is different! Like all Lufia games, there isn't random battles, instead you can sometimes choose to fight the enemy in front of you, this has always been an awesome aspect to the Lufia game cause you were able to pin-point which enemies give the best Exp. & Gold! each "main" character has a different ability that comes in handy thought the game, and some more valuable than others. And as always the story in all the Lufia games are their highlight

This game LAGS! How can you make a cartridge game lag? I have no idea! but Lufia R.o.L. does just that, and alot too! It lags in towns, in dungeons, on your status screen! Everywhere! The battle system has one big flaw in it, if you make a mistake, you can't go back and correct it, you have to just let it go, so if you choose "heal" and you don't need to be healed, well, sorry, you're healed! And you lose a turn! The characters needed to be worked on a bit longer, each one besides Torma & the Hero (what’s his name? Cause he didn‘t talk!) was bland and boring. Bau could have been the best character if they gave him monster based attacks, but he had nothing… only a melee attack... there was no development whatsoever... even older characters from the series couldn't breath life into the others.

GRAPHICS ~
+Positive+
Ah, the SNES! How the GBA has brought new life into your excellent graphic system. Nothing has changed! Each Lufia game flows the same, except now the enemies and heroes actually do some movement this time around in battle! I was amazed! The towns and dungeons are beautiful, the map is cool to look at as well.

I don't have much of a problem with the graphics, the monsters I have a bit of a problem with though. They are in the extremely cute category, half the time you don't wanna kill em! The dragons have these huge puppy-dog eyes... its disturbing. But all the Lufia games are like that! The monsters just float back and forth on screen never really moving much... and can you blame them? If they moved the game would lag even more! So thanks for that one added aspect! We appreciate it!

SOUND ~
The sound is classic, normally I don't listen to GBA music cause I am at work ditching assignments or what have you, but I did devote alot of my time to this games music, cause surprisingly it was awesome! I even downloaded the battle music! It kicked ass!

REPLAYABLITY ~
If it wasn't for the Ancient Cave, this game would have NO replay value! That CAVE takes up half of the actual game time (and without the CAVE the game was still 50 hours long!) Collecting Disc Monsters only goes so far until you just give up on it like a lame Pokemon rip. That CAVE is the only repayable factor in this whole game. So long...

OVERALL ~
Worth owning if you are a die-hard Lufia fan (or feel ripped-off after playing the GBC game Lufia 3) but not the best RPG out there. Try Breath of Fire 1 or 2 if this game didn't cut it for you.
