Great inventive game on the cutting edge.

In my book this game was the best use of the USB mic to date. I know alot of games use the USB mic for certain aspects of the game but this is one of the only games I have seen or heard of to date that use the mic as the entire control scheme with use of the game pad as a secondary.

The game though in my world was mislabeled as a sci-fi action game when clearly this game should have been marked as survival horror.

I will admit that at times the controls can get frustrating but that is easily overcome by learning to speak with more tone and using proper speech that really tightens and clears up your voice. This isn’t a game to play if you cant speak well or have a bad habit of mumbling. Also this game is a great tool for confidence building as well as public speaking skills. In order to play the game with anywhere close to 100% efficiency you need to be confident in your speaking and really put yourself into the game.

As far as story goes this game blew me away. There are a lot of games out there that try their hardest to get you the player involved in the story and in the end come out with a feeling that you belong to the story and have a relationship with the characters as well as what they are going through. This game however delivers that in spades. Once you develop a bond with the lead heroine Rio in the game you will find yourself caring more about what could happen to her and even less about your own in game persona.

Thanks to the fact that you help Rio out through the whole ordeal as well as during certain pauses in the action you hold down small talk and personal conversation you get an even greater aspect of truly being part of the game.

All in all this was a great game and far too underrated and should have had a bigger following if only it was represented better by the production as well as the fans of the game such as myself. So to close if you own a USB mic for the PS2 and don’t really have anything to do with it then go pick up a copy of lifeline. Also if you don’t own the USB mic then this is the perfect reason to go out and get one.
