Enter the world of Lemony Snicket, where the trees are twisted, the skies are dark, the streets are filled with fog, and corpses of guardians are an all-too-common denominator. Now enter the video game, a bright happy cheery game that was clearly made last-minute to cash in on the youngans. The game itself is beautifully presented, with amazing graphics, voiceovers from the cast, including Mr. Jim Carrey, and animated narration inbetween levels, which is fun to watch. The gameplay itself isn't so great, though, and is pretty boring, to be honest. You beat up Olaf's troupe, you build inventions, and get through the game doing so over and over and over again. While a game based on the books was a bad idea to begin with, it was as good as a game based on the books could have been. The only thing that REALLY bothered me was that the villains were made out to be funny, everyone friendly, the grass green and filled with flowers etc. etc., and quite frankly, that's not what Lemony Snicket's all about. Nevertheless, the game was okay, and will probably entertain the kids, but anyone else could beat the entire game in 2-5 hours, as I did. Worth a rent if you're a fan, worth the cold shoulder if you're not.
