Fast paced PvP brawl, that never grows old.

User Rating: 10 | League of Legends: Dominion PC
At release in Sept. 2009, LoL was a diamond in the rough, somewhat unfinished and published by a little known studio called Riot Games. So, it might not be too surprising that the Gamespot pundits ranked League of Legends only with a score of 6.0. A success story, unforeseeable for those that usually cater their pen to the big publishers which pay for site advertisements, that this game would reach more than 35 million people by November 2011.

Dominon brings the third battleground, or "Field of Justice" to LoL. After the Summoners Rift, the Twisted Treeline Riot added the Crystal Scar to the game. Two teams, two bases, and 5 nodes to take control over. A game of Dominion differs greatly from the ususal Summoners Rift matches. It is much faster paced and resolved within ca. 20 minutes of play time. In addition to kills, champions gain XP and extra gold at an increased pace. Also, all champions start at level three. This, plus speed-up buffs located on the map, add to a very fast paced gameplay. Unlike other LoL maps, laning basically does not exist in Dominion, within the first minute of the game, players plunge into battle, trying to gain control of more nodes than the opposing team. Each team starts at 500 points, from which points are deducted as soon as the enemy has control over more nodes. The game is lost when a teams score drops to zero.

Item variety is slightly different, lifesteal and healing abilities are nerfed, but all of the roundabout 95 champions are playable. True, a round of Dominion is not as strategically challenging as a round of Summoners Rift, but it is always a rush to play and a great way to get a feel for a new champion.

And by the way, it is FREE!
Recommended for everybody that enjoys fast paced PvP action.
