User Rating: 6.1 | Lagoon SNES
Lagoon is an adventure/rpg that is very generic in style. Yet plenty of fun overall. Playing a character named Nasir, you set out to investigate what's going wrong with the waters that have become muddy... waters that have given life to the land. Gameplay: 6/10 The controls and the adventure are plain enough. They are easy to adjust to. The only complaint that is commonly expressed about this game is that your sword does not extend very far. And you nearly have to run into your enemies to hit them. More long range attacks would be helpful... which eventually you get with your magic. This gameplay difficulty makes some of the bosses terribly difficult to fight. That coupled with some very large mazes makes the gameply pretty tough at times. Graphics: 5/10 The graphics are similar to the second Zelda game... like a console game with a slightly different look that the Final Fantasy games. There is not a lot of detail in the graphics. When the programmers did put in detail, they stand out against the rather plain rest of the screen. The enemies are well done, and are probably the best part of the graphics. Sound: 8/10 The sound is the best part of the game. The background music is plentiful and variable depending. Each town has different theme music that is appropriate to the town's character. The sound effects are above average, although there are some that leave you scratching your head. Reviewer's Tilt: 6/10 This is a fun game because it moves pretty quickly and there is enough action to make up for some of the weaker points. But on the whole, this does not stand out as a superb console rpg. Take it or leave it.
