So Close To Being A Really Solid Racing Title

User Rating: 7 | L.A. Rush PS2
I've actually only played LA Rush a couple times so maybe this review doesnt get completely in-depth but in all seriousness the game doesnt have that much to dive into.

LA Rush is a standard, generic racing title. The purpose of the game is to have a better car than your opponents and drive it better than they do, assuring you don't crash along the way. The graphics are decent but can just not compete with the larger racing series such as Need For Speed and Forza (although Forza is in a league of its own.)

One thing that I did enjoy about LA Rush that so many other titles leave out was the ability to race a pickup truck. Games like Need For Speed have left out the ability to modify a standard pickup truck and go race it. The last time I had the chance to race a truck was Gran Turismo 4 with the Chevy SS Pickup (one of my all time favourites.)

Police chases are police chases and Nitrous pickups along the course make the cars go fast. LA Rush really does nothing special to make it a standout in the racing genre. On the other side of the spectrum it really does nothing wrong to make it a bad game. The developers played it safe and went with a genre that sells as long as its marketed properly and made LA Rush a functioning and fairly fun installment in the genre. If you're a big fan of speed and realistic crashes then pick this up in your local bargain bin today.

Cheers.
