If you like some solid detective work, don't miss out on this unique title.

User Rating: 9 | L.A. Noire PS3
LA Noire has terrific acting and animation, but tries to juggle many different things, many of which should probably have been excluded. The whole experience stays true to it's name, as it is filled with murder and depressing moments, this dark tone might not be well suited for everyone.

The best part of the game is the actual detective work you will be doing in order to solve crimes, such as gathering evidence by examining items or questioning suspects. Many of the available items and evidence will only serve to throw you off, so not everything needs to be found or used to solve the cases. The people you question and interrogate will often lie, and it's up to you to see through them. At first the game will hold your hand, as people will make almost hilarious facial expressions when lying. This is where LA Noire truly shines, getting to the bottom of things by connecting the dots in all of the different cases is truly a blast, especially when achieved on your own.

The playable part of the city is simply too big, and basically serves only for the few car chases that will be occurring and for some of the chatter with your partners along the way. Thankfully enough you can skip these sections of the game as they would simply take too long. If nothing, at the very least they provide a sense of traveling to crime scenes and suspects, breaking some of the monotony along the way. The city itself feels a bit empty, there are collectibles to be found but finding them is pretty much impossible in such big environment without a guide.

Shooting is something that will very rarely happen throughout the story, as most of it is in the side missions and in the very end of the game.

Lastly, I feel LA Noir has its share of ups and downs, even though it is truly excellent, it ultimately does not deserve a score of 10 because of the very disappointing ending that leaves you completely unsatisfied as the lack of decent closure deeply impacts your experience.
