Totally mindless but still kind of fun i guess.

User Rating: 6.5 | Knights of the Round SNES
I picked up Knights of the Round because I noticed this title on multiple top-50 SNES lists. I can't agree with that high of a ranking but it's a decent game anyway. ( Got it for $12.99 ) It is the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. What can I say? You are knights and you fight until you save the Holy Grail...

Gameplay: You are mainly going up against hordes of enemy knights, jesters, magicians, kings, and even some hawks and tigers. You battle through each level scoring as many points as possible in order to pass the stage and level-up. You earn points by passing the stage as quickly as possible and by finding as much treasure as you can. As you level up the armor changes and the character becomes stronger and stronger. There is a boss fight at the end of each stage. Each time you die you can select which ever guy you want to use at that time. There are 3 to choose from: Arthur (balanced), Lancelot (speed/defense), and Percival (brute strength).

Downside: Repetitive hack n' slash. Zero strategy involved, just mindless button mashing. The sound quality and music is lacking and somewhat annoying. Aside from being repetitive, the combat seems detached to me. When you are fighting there isn't much 'feeling' involved.

Upside: Don't take this review the wrong way, there is okay value here. Especially for kids or people who just love hack n' slash games. Anything with the King Arthur story and the Knights of the Round Table is relatively cool in my opinion. The graphics are decent, and you gotta enjoy the level ups. At some stages in the game you can hop on a horse, which is a nice touch.

Overall: Just wasn't my favorite game. Pretty much just your average mediocre beat 'em up.
