A superb entry in the Kirby series.

Released in 2014, Kirby Triple Deluxe was the pink puffball's first adventure made for the Nintendo 3DS. I purchased and played this game recently via eShop download.

Taking place after the events of Kirby Return to Dream Land, Kirby is seen sleeping in his home, when all of a sudden, a beanstalk grows under Kirby's house. While this is happening, King Dedede was captured by a creature named Taranza. Its up to Kirby to go and put a stop to this mess!

This game uses the same engine as the one used in Kirby Return to Dream Land. This means that the same style of gameplay is present in this game. a few new changes made include the addition of gyro controls for certain areas, new abilities being Beetle, Bell, Circus and Archer and the all new special ability; Hyper-nova. This transforms Kirby into a force to be reckoned with, as he can suck in just about anything that stands in his way! Personally, I think that these sections were handled MUCH better than the Super Ability sections in the previous game, as those sections are much more interesting and not as overused as the Super Ability Hats were.

The main collectables of this game are the Sunstones and Key-chains. Collecting enough Sunstones allows you to enter the boss level and unlock an EX stage. Grand Sunstones can allow the player to travel to new worlds after they defeat a boss.

Key-chains are obtainable through finding them in levels, scoring high in a Goal Game and even using Play Coins to obtain a random key-chain. All of the key-chains are based on the previous Kirby games up until this point, collecting ones like the Dark Matter from Dream Land 3 or an enemy from Amazing Mirror, making for great fan service and an incentive to replay stages for all the collectables.

Triple Deluxe contains some of the best uses of the 3D technology, having Kirby and even the enemies, switch between foreground and background to make the illusion that they are out of reach from Kirby or to unlock secrets when playing as Kirby.

There are also a few other sub-games in Triple Deluxe, including Kirby Fighters; which is literally Super Smash Bros but the playable characters are all the Kirby abilities in the game and Dedede's Drum Dash, a rhythm based game where you press the buttons to whatever track is playing. Both games have Deluxe versions that are available on the Nintendo eShop. I'be only played Kirby Fighters Deluxe, and can say that is a fun little side game. Haven't tried the other sub-game as of writing this, so I cannot give impressions of that one.

There is also True Arena, which has you fighting all the bosses of the game along with some secret bosses and Dedede Tour, which is the main game, but you play as King Dedede.

Overall, this all combines into one of the best Kirby games I have played in the series. The difficulty may be low (except for bosses that is. Those gave me a hard time), but it is a fun and accessible platformer for the 3DS. I highly recommend this game if you still haven't picked it up yet. It is a must-have title for the 3DS.
