User Rating: 10 | Kirby Super Star Ultra DS
I have played this game for a t least thirty hours (Maybe more) and only put it down to let my brother play it. I enjoyed every minute after I started playing, and am sorry that I have to wait to get it back.

Background: Kirby Superstar was a game created for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and featured a series of games within games, which had to be played to unlock the final challenge. All those games and more are included in here.

Story: 9.5/10. Kirby Superstar Ultra is broken into several categories called sub-games, each with their own story and villain. They are loosely linked by a few points, but individual enough to be separate. The only weakness is a lack of the ending of the final story, but its easily guessed.

Controls: 9.5/10. The game plays very easily, jump with A/Y, fly with repeated taps of A/Y/up in air, inhale/spit with B, swallow with down/X/select, guard with R/L, move with the D-pad, use abilities with several of the above. I found the game easy enough to control and you can beat the game with just the basic controls, or try harder with advanced controls. The only weakness is people used to SNES or N64 controls with B as jump and A/Y as attack will need to get used to the controls again.

Gameplay: 10/10. The game is divided into eight sub-games, only one of which is available at start but you unlock more by beating the first ones, plus five mini-games and three boss rushes. The difficulty isn't that high in the first game but climbs higher as you progress, at a natural pace so you don't notice starting out beating enemies in one attack and at the end meeting foes with ten health. Kirby himself can attack enemies by eating them, spitting out objects he ate at them, or swallowing them to copy their abilities (Laser, Fire, Ice, Hammer, Mike, Crash, etc.).

Characters: 10/10 Come on, Kirby is cute. He's, well, a marshmallow with a vacuum cleaner in his stomach. The helpers that assist you are somewhat stupid, but help how they can, and keeping them alive is more of a challenge if you want to pursue, though it is unnecessary. And a few extra characters are hidden throughout the game.

Graphics: 10/10. Classic cartoon 2-D revamped from the original SNES classic, the game looks great, and turning the cutscenes from 2-D to 3-D is a great improvement. There are no problems or glitches as you make your way through.

Sound and Music: 10/10. Kirby sounds great, with the music fitting every level and the sound effects are right what you think they should be. Kirby doesn't say much more than ouch, but he never really needs to.

Final Score: 9.8333/10, rounded to 10/10. This game is one of the most fun games to play on the DS, one of the largest, and one of the most addicting. I enjoyed playing it and feel it well worth my time spent on it and the money spent on it.
