A nice, small collection of fun. Maybe a little bit too small?

User Rating: 8.5 | Kirby Super Star Ultra DS
Kirby super star ultra is a very entertaining and varied collection of very small Kirby games. The smallness of the games, however was quite disappointing, i expected them to be full length.

There are 11 small Kirby games. Most of them are anventures, some are boss battleng only, and then there is a footrace game. There is variety in this game. The games are different from each other, with different fun twists. As usual, Kirby, the super cute, pink, round hero must jump, float, and most importantly: inhale the foes to get abilities from them. This is what makes Kirby games oh-so fun and why they never get boring. For example: Eat a biospark, and you get the ninja ability. The ninja ability allows you to throw knives, grab foes and leap up high and crash down onthe ground damaging the foe, and more cool moves. When you get bored of using a ability, throw it away, and eat some other foe and gain some other ability, like wing. This is why the game doesn't get boring, and why it's so addictive. The level design is really quite simple. Because of that, the game would be normally rather boring. The level design is actually not a flaw at all 'cause abilities you get from foes totally make up for the rather simple level design. However, there are problems. The biggest flaw is that you have cleared all the li'l games way too soon. This game absolutely needs more lenght. It's such a ridiculously short game. Each games should have, how about, 35 levels instead of preposterous 4-7. Another flaw is that this game is awfully easy. The only challenging parts of the game are the boss battling games. Kirby can take quite a many hits, and food is everywhere. The developers take a little bit too good care of player. The enemies shoud be faster, too. the player can beat the foe usually before the foe can do a thing. The bosses should have more HP. There are some attacks that pack such punch that the bosses can't take 4 hits of such attacks. (The fire hammer attack is a great example.) The 3rd flaw is that the potential of some of the li'l games could have been used better. One example is Metaknightmare ultra. Metaknight should definitely have had his own levels, not just the same levels as Kirby. Helper to hero should have been adventuring, there are too many boss battling games. Another good thing is this game's lasting appeal. It's just fun to play throgh the games over 'n' over again, trying to make new records. It just never gets old. This partially makes up for the incredibly short lenght . Not completely, though. It's still a BIIIIIIG flaw.

The graphics are really nice looking. Sprites look great, and what i really love about the grafics is the envinronment. The ground is actually 3-D, in a way, if you look closely. Also there are all kinds of little things that makes Pop star's (the planet Kirby games take place on) envinronment something totally different than earth. For example: stars and gems in all kinds of places, some odd poles and stuff sticking from ground, patterns in walls. It just feels so magical 'cause the envinronment is otherwise similiar to earth, and only these little things make it different. Graphics are not a technical miracle, but when i say that graphics are great i don't mean they push the console to the limits. Not that kind of greatness. When it comes to music, this game, like the other Kirby games, is something that is more than just awesome. Such lovely, unique, amazing, awesome, excellent, and sometimes even epic, melodies. Simply one of the most awesome soundtracks EVER. That's all i have to say about music.

I really recommend this game if you like platforming, and if you don't mind if it's quite easy. Don't expect it to be too long though.
If you have never played Kirby this is a totally new and unique experience.
