One of my favorite games, and still fun to play.

So Kings Field II has been one of my favorite games since I first bought it for the playstation 1 so long ago. And I've owned 4 copies since. I think the reason this game never really caught on was because of the timing. In truth it's a Morrowind, or Oblivion style game that was hindered by the hardware of the PS1. Graphics - At the time, gorgeous. Though by todays standard it is way behind. You can still make out your enemies and friends from the background, and the the game has a dark look to it that aids in setting the mood.

Gameplay - Basic First person RPG. You go around and kill things with medieval weapons and magic, talk to people, sleep at inns, collect gold, etc, etc. What really stands out in my mind are the hidden doors, and hidden items. No matter where you go in the game, you find yourself checking every single wall, or flat surface, looking for doors that lead to hidden treasures. And there are no useless items in the game. Everything you find you will use, aside from weaponry, which is really a personal choice. Sound - Dark and gloomy, and perfect. Sets the scene just right. No voice overs from the characters, but then, I'm a literate person, and I can live with that. The sound effects are pretty good.

Overall, it's a great game. Even now I can still pick it up and play all the way through, enjoying the time spent. Solving puzzles and searching for secrets unknown. Give it a try if you can find it.
