Plenty to Do and Very Addictive

User Rating: 8.5 | Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning PC
The development history of this game is very interesting (check wiki) and adds a certain flavor that seeps out of every area and monster.
The story is told in portions you serve in doses that suit your style of play, read/listen to all the choices, stone stories, and other lore which can provide countless hours in itself... or take as little as you like, it makes no difference to winning if that's your main goal.
There is nothing new in this game, it does not try to re-invent the way you play an RPG.
Controls are familiar, access to skills and utilities are simple, there are maps, inventory, quest log, talent trees, trainers, color-coded loot, earned combat moves, awesome magic effects, finishing moves, bosses, mini bosses, it's all there.

Since the game is so accessible you are drawn in to the world without the need for a guide or manual, the hours scream by, the quests mount up, your gear is looking sweet, mobs are dying at your feet...and then the sun rises outside, yikes.

The game is not without some faults... you are firmly planted on the ground, no jumping unless the game offers it, the field of view (FOV) is limited, yet opens wide when you face a large group of enemies, sometimes too wide where it can distract you from the fight. I think it depends on the player how much these things will affect the enjoyment.

Other:
DLC consists of a weapon/armor set for about 5 bucks. It will lock at the level of install... so if you play to level 10, then install DLC, the sets will be suitable for that level, however, the sets do not continue to scale as you level.
Also, the set bonuses are locked, they never change, install at level 1 or 20, same set bonus percents.

I give the game an 8.5, I'm having fun and I look forward to returning each time to the game, I can't ask for too much more.
