Even though it doesn't represent the series very well, KOF Maximum Impact is a good game.

A completely new KOF. It doesn't feel at all like the KOF of old. The gameplay is fast, furious and unbalanced. Now instead of teams and balanced characters, we get 1 on 1 story mode, button mashing combos and juggling. It almost feels like Marvel vs. Capcom. I don't think it should have been called KOF at all. It's missing too many things that made the 2D game so special. If KOF could last this long as a 2D game, why change it to 3D and strip away all the thinks that made it so great? Changing from a superb 2D fighter into an average 3D game just doesn't seem like a smart move. Well at least it's a fun game! Even though it doesn't represent the series very well, KOF Maximum Impact is a good game. Just don't go in thinking that it's "The King of Fighters 2004."
