Review: Katamari Damacy

Katamari Damacy is a weird foreign import that is one of the few that has made the trip to the United States, this was a much underrated game until it got released here in the US, but has since its release has become the darling of game reviewers, and PS2 owners everywhere.

Story:
Your father on a bender one night accidentally destroys all of the stars in the night's sky, and as the deadbeat he is, leaves restoring the cosmos to his son. Now to restore the cosmos to its former glory the son must come to earth and roll all sorts of stuff into a katamari that change in size with the more stuff you gather.

Graphics:
I am not sure if it is the cultural differences, or if some sort of narcotics were involved, but the designers of this game have created a completely weird looking and feeling game, with a very trippy feel, however it looks like something created on the Quake 2 engine that is fully cell shaded, all of the characters a blocky, and chunky, but all is forgiven because of the sheer amount of stuff on the screen at one time with no sign of slowdown, or lag in the graphics

Music:
The Music in this game amazing, probably one of the best soundtracks I have heard in quite sometime, simple, catchy, and fun, it will have you humming the tunes from this title for quite some time after you are dome playing.

Control:
The control you have over your character is tight and responsive, adding to the fun that there is to be had.

Game play:
Katamari Damacy is a absolute delight to play, as you roll you Katamari, around you find yourself waiting to see what you can achieve and how large you can make your sticky little ball, and you get an odd sense of satisfaction rolling a ball of people and sending it to a fiery existence in outer space

Design:
The Design and look of this game is completely unique, whimsical, quirky, charming, and amusing all at the same time.

Overall:
I would recommend this game to anyone that owns a PS2, not only is it inexpensive, but a fun, and unique gaming experience that anyone can get into, and one that everyone should.
