Not unless you really love Inuyasha

User Rating: 6.3 | Inuyasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask PS2
Before I say anything bad about this game I need to stress that I’m a major Inuyasha fan. I love the series. But in all honesty the developers of this game could have done a lot better. People aren’t kidding when they say it looks like a PS one game. The graphics, especially the battle graphics, look fan made almost. Outside of battle it’s not so bad. The environments look just like from the series and in my opinion were done well enough. This game plays a lot like a storybook. It seems like they were trying to get away with as little animation as possible during events. I think the sound is it’s only redeeming feature because of the voice acting. They used the real voices from the English dub for the dialogue events. For the events it shows a still picture of what the character looks like while they’re talking that is drawn in the anime’s style not game graphics. This helps a lot because without that there is no emoting of any kind. The sprites themselves during those events will face each other and occasionally there will be a small action like when Kagome says “sit” to Inuyasha he’ll plummet to the ground. The game has multiple endings depending on whom you spend the most time with during the “day off” scenarios. There are a number of different scenarios for each character for the main character to spend time with. You can either collect them all or mix and match. You will get an ending involving the character you spent the most time with. Bad side to that is that most of the endings are basically the same. I finished this game 8 times (I just really like the series) and it gets really really tedious going through everything all over again. The only plus side to that is that you can start at level 30 after you’ve finished the game once through. The story itself is interesting enough to keep you going the first time through. It’s not canon by any means but still fun. Like playing a game of a well written fan fiction. Lastly and probably the only thing that kept me coming back time after time was collecting the different items for the extras menu. There are anime style animation clips that will occur during special moves you do during battle with each of the characters. They are fun to see if you are easily amused like me. Despite the mediocre technical aspects of the game I enjoyed it quite a bit. But I really only suggest it for purchase if you really love the series.
