Pocket Sized Adventure, Silver Screen Sized Hero
It is a lengthy affair and maintains the vague plot of its bigger brother. Which is to be expected from the Game Boy.
Graphics aren't bad, nice and colorful. Every environment is lushly drawn and Jones is a fluid little guy. Bullwhip and gun are your only defenses and they both work pretty well. Control is easy, but the platforming can be a little tricky thanks to the 3/4 view.
But the puzzles are hit or miss. I've spent days trying to get through some of these levels. Not because they're so hard, but because there's a puzzle that no sane human can figure out. At least in the bigger version, there's clues and hints around to figure it out. Here you're left to guess and endlessly try and pick things up. If you can put up with it, it's a fun game.
Last Words: A long adventure made longer by impossible puzzles. Fun for a while, but dives into mediocrity at some points.
