If you've beaten and grown tired of Super Mario Bros, then Ice Climber is exactly the platformer for you.

User Rating: 7.5 | Ice Climber NES
The good: a great platformer for those tired of Super Mario Bros., nice strong fun

The bad: jumping can be very frustrating, controls more slippery then the ice

Ice Climber was released in 1985, a while after the best selling game of all time, SMB, was released. It obviously wasn't as popular critically or commercially, but was still successful in both terms.

Ice Climber is loads of fun and excitment to play, but its controls really slow it down a notch.

Game-play: 8/10

The game is pretty simple. You must get to the top of each level (hence the Ice Climber name) and avoid enemies. This is incredibly fun, and loads of challenges will await whoever plays this game.

Graphics: 7/10

Graphically, it's good. The only severe flaw is that some of the Ice climber's graphics look pretty weak and have lack of detail.

Sound: 8/10

Great Music!! The music is some of the best on the Nes. The first world's music is awesome as well.

Camera and Control: 6/10

The tilt of the game is poor, and the control is awful. Jumping to a platform gets frustrating quickly, since you have to get both Ice climbers on the platform. Also, since there is ice, it gets amazingly frustrating to control the Ice Climbers.

Value: 9/10

If yoiu've beaten and grown tired of Super Mario Bros, then Ice Climber is exactly the platformer for you.

Average Score: 7.7/10

Ice Climber has weak controls, but overall, it's one of the better Nes games and a blast to play. This hardly ever gets boring, and fans of Ice Climbers in the SSB games will definitly want to check out this blockbuster. Full of action and tons of surprises, Ice Climber will keep you warm until you freeze.
