Golf or fun

User Rating: 8.6 | Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee PSP
Well, I wasn't sure about getting a golf game for my PSP at first. I don't watch golf on t.v. so why would I want to play it, wouldn't be boring? Nope. In fact, it's quite fun. You see Tiger Woods PGA is golf, but Hotshots... now thats fun. alot of unlockable assesories for your character so you can customise them how you like and also has a feature that is almost like leveling up in that you can increase a characters : power, impact, control, etc... The game system adds to play because its so simple, meaning there is no confusion on how to play. This HotShots game sticks to the old-fashioned three-click swing style that's been a golf game standard since the begining of golf games. After lining up the direction of your shot and selecting the club you'll use, you'll tap the X button three times: once to start your power meter, again to set the power, and a third time to set how straight your shot is. When the meter is active, you can hold up or down on the D pad to add some spin to the ball.

Open Tee can actually be quite challenging.it's not uncommon to watch your birdie quickly turn into a double bogey if you don't know the fundimentals of putting. But don't fear, if you are having trouble its not the end because you can practice your strokes in the training mode. The single-player mode gives you progressively difficult events to compete in, such as regular match games, one-on-one competitions, and tournaments. Victories in the challenge mode will unlock courses in the stroke play mode, as well as new golfers and new accessories. Though you can't create your own custom golfer from scratch, you can sample the unlocked golfers in a wide variety of accessories. Sure, there are straitlaced golfer costumes and clubs and such, but you can also choose to give your golfer a umbrella or a frying pan for a golf club. Options like these should give you a good idea of the game's overall flavor. There's also a putting challenge mode where you're placed on a putting green with several different holes to one-stroke your ball into. You're given points for each ball you sink, and the farther away the hole, the greater the points. It can be hard, but difficulty doesn't really translate to fun. Consequently, Open Tee would have been better off including the minigolf mode like the one in Hot Shots Golf Fore.I would recomend that anyone who likes the hot shots golf genre or golf in general get this game and even if you don't like golf you may find this game to be fun. so whether you like golf or just like to have fun, with hotshots you can acomplish both.
