HexicHD is a quality packaged puzzler that hides a demon within which pushes it beyond its original scope.
It's true that when you first load HexicHD it does seem like a basic puzzler but trust me when I say that you shouldn't be fooled by its simplicity, as lurking deep within is one of the most complex puzzlers I have ever played! I won't go deep into the strategies here as it is intended as a quick review, but if you are interested there is a very good and detailed site out there that thoroughly explains all of these new high scoring strategies, just search "Hexic" and you'll find it.
With these new "systems" it is possible to score higher than was ever thought possible - players are now scoring in the trillions! Bombs used to be bad, real bad, but now when combined with a star and regular piece of the same color can trigger phenomenal MMC's (Massive Multiplier Combo's) and are now a competitive players best friend.
This game has been opened wide by the public and has come a long long way since when it was first reviewed so in my opinion deserves a much higher score. Bottom line is: HexicHD is a quality packaged puzzler that hides a demon within which pushes it beyond its original (and possibly Pajitnov's) scope. A fantastic game.
