I alwys loved WWII Pacific fighters; this game allowed me to indulge my whims without hours of tedious sim flight.

Traditional flight sims, while more historically accurate with respect to modelling the different behaviour characteristics of the various aircraft, always seem to require the tactile dexterity of a five armed spider monkey combined with endless hours of patience.

Heros of the Pacific is a game - a fun game. Yes, I played with the arcade setting, and I am thankful for the regenerating ordnance. And I got to fly a bright red P-61 (with a clever Black Widow silhouette) and kick butt with it. (Err... rockets are for wimps? ). The story is somewhat contrived, and the voice acting does not always, if at all, match the pacing of the game. The embedded "real" WWII footage is impressive. At the end of the day, though, this is a game, games are meant to be enjoyable, and I enjoyed this one.

I enjoyed this game enough that I still go back and replay missions with different planes. And if a game can get me to come back for seconds, well, then that is saying something.
