Come hunt some heads with the toughest dude in town.

HeadHunter is a title that makes people think: is it about cannibals, job-employment agents or even heads that hunt? No! Don't be silly...

HeadHunter is a game developed by Amuze that follows the story of a tough and gritty cop in a futuristic city. Jack Wade is one of the best HeadHunters. HeadHunters are what people can the county hunters that chase criminals that the cops can't touch. One day, Jack wakes up on a hospital bed, and worst of all, he doesn't remember what happened or even who he was. He is only helped by a beatiful girl that wants him to find her father's killer.

The game plays a lot like Metal Gear, with a touch of Moto GP. From mission to mission, you'll need to race your bike through the city and when you get to the locations, a pseudo-MGS style gameplay takes place in urban environments, where you'll need to duck for cover while taking down enemies. You can in fact punch the guards if you sneak up on them or shoot them straight in the head, if you prefer. The shooting will remind you a lot of WinBack, if you ever played it. It's very static and it is kind of hard to dodge.

Graphics-wise, the game looks very well on the Dreamcast, while in the Playstation 2, it looks a little worse than most games, and it lost some detail in the conversion. Music-wise, the game is well backed up by a nice them song that will stick to your head.

One interesting thing the game has, if not an attempt to hide the fact that Metal Gear Solid had a lot of influence here, is the fact that you'll need to obtain licenses every now and then, to gain weapons and info. Why is it MGS-like, you ask? You'll need to play VR simulations of various situations to acquire the said licenses. It's a lot like MGS Integral's VR challenges with Snake.

The difficulty in the game is medium-high, since the movement is kinda blocky and you'll be outnumbered most of the times. But if you persevere you will find a cool experience to be enjoyed here.

My suggestion is that if you own a Dreamcast and you can buy stuff off Ebay, to try and buy an import version of this as this version is better and it feels more at home in this system. But if you only have a Playstation 2 in the pack, you'll easily find a copy of the game going cheap in any store and still get the same experience, but not as ' natural' as the original.
