User Rating: 9 | Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince WII
Harry Potter is a well known franchise of books, movies and games.

Is Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince : The Videogame worth atleast a rental, after the mediocre reception of it's predescesor?

***STORY***

Preety much most things that were in the book and the movie remain.

Now it's the 6th year for Harry Potter in Hogwarts.
Most of the characters remain, such as Ron, Hermiony, and Ginny.

Harry learns some new spells after finding the book wich belongs to the Half Blood Prince.
Of course, now Harry needs to find out who the Half Blood Prince is.
Not only that, he needs to find out about Lord Volendemort's (aka Tom Riddle or The Dark Lord) past.
Just like in previous two books, films, and games, Harry's adventure will be filled with a bit of a Love story for both to him, and his friends (for the most of the part, for Ron).

One real change from the book is the ending.
In the book there was this Climax, the final battle, wich nearly destroys Hogwarts. It has been removed in both the game and the movie.

***GRAPHICS***

I have to say that the graphics are, let's say mixed.
For a Xbox360 and PS3 game, they are OK.
But for a PC, PS2 and Wii game, they are stunning to say the least.

Character models are decent, and while the lypsinking might be a little off at times, the models are genually good.

Hogwarts is as Open-Ended as it was in The Order Of The Pheonix.

Effects for the magic speels are nice.
What is suprising is that this game is by far one of the most "Colourfull" games on the Wii that i have seen.

***SOUND***

As always the case with Harry Potter, the soundtrack is amazing.
Some of the music can even be effectivly funny.

Voice actors are the actors from the movie, like always, wich is good.

***GAMEPLAY***

The Gameplay in Half Blood Prince dosen't really change much from The Order Of The Pheonix.
Kinda like F.E.A.R. 2 to F.E.A.R..

You still explore Hogwarts.
You still play Quiditch.
You still challenge other students in duels.

One key change is the new "Potion Making" mechanic. Bealive it or not, it's incredibly fun. It gets a bit hard in the end, but it works.

You also collect "Krests" and mini-krests along the way - to unlock achivments and rewards.

Durning your duels, the camera shifts to a Over-The-Shoulder view (yes, the one from RE4).
There are 6 speels, each is unique. Some of them are diffrent than in the films.

One thing i didn't like is the constant Quiditch training.
How complex is Quiditch? There is like a ten of these trainings and all you do is always the same : fly through the big stars.

One big improvment from The Order Of The Pheonix, is that you have the Headless Nick character guiding you to your destination, so it's not frustrting to explore Hogwarts anymore. But it's a problem at the same time, beacause it makes the game seem a little bit linear.

***ENJOYMENT***

I really enjoyed the game.

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince is better than it's predescesor in alot of aspects.
It's a OK rental and The Reason is beacause the game is 3-4 hours long.

Score - 9.0 / 10 - Superb.
