You don't play as him in multiplayer, you play as other Spartans, or possibly Spartans clones according to Chiron TL-34's description.

I guess so. :( I only play games on my computer because it's a high powered laptop and I can easily take these console experiences with me anywhere I want to play any time I like. Plus I can mod older games with graphical upgrades and stuff. Things consoles can't do.

@Jedilink109 Because MS doesn't care about pc gamers anymore.

Ok so somebody explain to me why in the world did they put Halo 1 and 2 on PC and then just NOT put 3 and the rest on it too? That's totally lame and stupid! I'd like to play those on my computer.

@Anoush13 Really? I mean, I'd be glad if the other games made it to the other platforms as well, but I don't see how it makes Microsoft "cheap". Sure it might cost a lot to make, but given how many millions it would sell they'd more than make back on their investment. And without Halo, the Xbox 360 probably wouldn't even have been made. I love my 360 and all the Halo games, and I agree that Microsoft should be getting the games on PC (starting with Halo 3 so the series can finally be complete), but as a long time console gamer, I can't complain about it pushing the 360 to the forefront of gaming. Not to mention that Halo 1 was a much better game on Xbox than the PC anyways..

Incredible game. After owning it for 7 years, I've just started another campaign on this for prehaps the 10th time and still having a blast. It never gets old.

Snake8304 Finsie is right. Wolfenstein 3D really set the basis for FPSs, back in '92. Then you have the Doom series, Duke Nukem 3D, Bungie's own Marathon, the Quake series, Half Life, and Goldeneye 007 really set a high standard for consoles in the day. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Medal of Honor, and Counterstrike were also important titles. I also like to mention 2000's Deus Ex in passing as a very important FPSRPG. Not to take anything away from Halo, but it's not the father of much of anything. It did things well, and happened to be the first hyped and acclaimed FPS of the new gen, giving it a leg up on later titles.

@Anoush13 Halo was an RTS at first :D

Snake8304 The 'father' of first person shooters is Wolfenstein 3D. And It wasn't the 'Father' of console FPS games either. It was just a good story and some easy to pick up and play controls.

After i finish halo reach i bought this game to see how the story continues (i have never played this game before ,i start with Halo 3) is good to see that Halo has been an excellent fps since the first game (the core mechanics are the same in every game), now i know why everybody says that halo was revolutionary to the fps genre (Halo is the father of the actual firts person shooters).

I love this game, but I hate Microsoft! Halo originally was supposed to a PC Game and should have been that way, instead of waiting 2 whole years for it to come to the PC! Reach should also be on the PC! Once again Cheap Microsoft wins...

Do people still play this online? I'm considering getting it for the PC. It's just a shame Halo 2 only works on Vista. :\

Yeah the good old days! Clean honest and straight to the point FPS game! Believe it or not, but I still play halo (custom edition) online. And there are 100s of players online at all times! This is a game where you can really have a laugh online.

God no! Halo CAN NOT! compete with half-life or doom. Halo was only good for multiplayer which they did amazing. It was awesome til they screwed it all up. Halo 1 was the only good halo, but again. Halo IS NOT a classic like half-life or doom. Also, this isn't a review. This is a fanboy talking about the game not reviewing it
