A very good follow up to Halo 2 - one of the most innovative games of all time.

User Rating: 9 | Halo 3 X360
Halo 2 was the best selling FPS of all time - for good reason. It's spectacular graphics, creative maps and ranking system made it a highly addicted and immersive game. for me halo 3 made the purchase of an xbox 360 system virtually mandatory. Perhaps my expectations were too high for Halo 3. I expected a big leap in graphical quality and gameplay since it was being released on the new more powerful system. although the graphics are enhanced over halo 2 and the game does look very nice on my hi-def tele, the game wasn't as much of a technological leap nor was there as much WOW factor compared to Halo 2 when it was released. That being said, the game is very, very good. The maps are done well, (my favorites being the smaller pit and foundry), but not as inspiring as some of the Halo 2. in combat, there really isn't much new to Halo 3 except for the addition of some new 'specialty' grenades' which, though interesting and adding an element to game play, don't truly make halo 3 as incredible a game as halo 2 back in the day. the campaign mode is fun to play but all the same, very similar and slightly lacking in creativity to halo 2. multiplayer online mode is great but there is one major hassle that everyone is complaining about. Bill Gates: "Why do we have to wait so darn long in a lobby for a game to start? I mean, there are tens of thousands of people on line and we all have to wait 4-5 minutes for a game to begin? You're the smartest, richest guy in the world! Figure it out man!" The multiplayer can be frustrating at times especially when you begin playing as it seems like there are a lot of very good to great players out there who will absolutely destroy your kill to death ratio. there is a big learning curve to this game and expect to be pwnd for a while before you get really good. One thing i wish they would correct is the power of the grenade. it seems that they are overpowered and every game turns into a frag fest with grenade spamming going on from beginning to end. it takes a lot of the tactics out of the game and turns it into more of a giant snowball war with grenades. In defense of all the negative things i've said about halo 3 - if it wasn't preceded by perhaps the best game of all time IMHO i believe that we would be raving about this excellent game. worth plunking doen the 60 or so dollars for the game.
