Guitar Hero RAWKS!

User Rating: 9.8 | Guitar Hero PS2
I just bought Guitar Hero two nights ago. Since then, no Everquest 2. No World of Warcraft. No City of Villains. No Star Wars Battlefront 2. THIS GAME RAWKS! I just can't put it down. The loading screens give you little hints, and finally mine said... give your fingers a rest. I played 25 songs straight before stopping that first night... and I guess what I have said so far would stand as a review. But Red Octane and Harmonix didn't half step when making this game, so I won't half step in the review.

Everything... from the trax to the guitar is done to the max. From the Stevie Ray Vaughn to Black Sabbath, if you like rock, you'll find some song in here that will make you nod your head. And I don't just mean classic rock... nods to modern rock are included like the Red Hots and Audioslave. All of the songs are covers, and while I can understand why, it still sucks that some of the songs are not vocally up to par. But muscially, all are about 99.9% perfect. And that's what really counts, I've found.

Speaking of music, playing the guitar is a dream- my only concern is the fact that the accelerometer in mine is acting up after only one night of intense play... sometimes it doesn't register my star meter. It's pretty well put together, though under pressure during an intense solo, I can feel the plastic have a little give. But I don't think it will be a problem.

As far as improvements, one that I can mention is the ability to play specific sections of the song- I play keyboard, and that's the way I learn certain sections... repetition.

But other than that... I have to mention that I just played Killer Queen four times in a row. Not to get ahead... and not because I messed up. Not to get a better score, either. Just because... I wanted to play Killer Queen. There are not too many games I say this about, but this is one of the most perfect games I've played... it has just the right scaling of difficulty so that even a beginner can get into it... and from there you're hooked.

The graphics are awesome... the actions of the 'toons brings you back to the days of stadium concerts... and there's a viking! And Death! So go out.. grab this game, and put up the horns. All praise Red Octane and Harmonix... we're not worthy!
