another hit from Harmonix

User Rating: 9.8 | Guitar Hero PS2
i started playing Harmonix's music based rhythm games back with Amplitude...i was blown away by the simplicity yet difficult nature of the game play...and the graphics just sucked u into the TV screen with things popping up and disappearing...now were at a whole new level of immersion with Guitar Hero...this is not ur ordinary rhythm game, this one comes at you with not only its own special controller, but songs from past and present rock history that kick major a$$. first off the SG controller is one of the coolest things ive had plugged into any console. for one its sturdy, literally feels like they spent some time to develop it and make it right. not like the flimsy Konami controllers for Guitar Freaks. packed with 5 different fret buttons, a strum bar, and a whammy bar, this controller is down right necessary to fully enjoy Guitar Hero. when it comes down to gameplay, thanks to the addition of mulitple levels of difficulty, its fairly easy for "non" guitarists to jump in and start rockin out. for guitarists that have been playing for a while even, its not a wise idea to jump into the harder levels. since u can build up ur skill once u learn a song perfect on one level, thats when its time to up it to the next. the songs themselves are near perfect remakes of classic tunes. everybodies making their own lists of favs and mentions. im just gonna say that when rocking out to Thunderkiss 65', i feel like im right in the middle of the song, its incredible. since the rhythm based genre is not exactly the most flourishing in videogames, having somthing as good as guitar hero coming out is needless to say a breath of fresh air. THANK YOU HARMONIX and RED OCTANE *flashes the evil horns*
