The most revolutionary video game of all-time
On to the gameplay, the controller has five fret buttons and a strum bar which, when hit together is sync with the notes on-screen, creates raw rock 'n' roll, hehe. The guitar also includes a whammy bar to add effects to the hold notes. Star power is gained by hitting at least two sets of note phrases that are all blue and lightning-ish. Tilting the guitar neck up activates star-power, not only doubling your score, but also saving you if you aren't doing so-hot. If the crowd meter drops all the way, you are booed off the stage. I know, it sucks. There are four levels of difficulty: Easy, for beginners, medium, hard, and expert for the rock gods. There are four modes of play, career mode, to live out your rock and roll fantasies, quickplay, to just go out and rock, and two multiplayer modes: co-op (working together) and face-off (against each-other). Simple, I know.
In career mode, the player travels through various venues playing five songs at each location. The player is rewarded money for how well he or she performs on a song, five stars being the highest and one star being lowest. five-starring each song on the main career unlocks a special guitar. There are also bonus songs, eh about 20 maybe. Included in those is the song "Guitar Hero", and Freezepop's "Get Ready to Rokk", a mix of "For Those About to Rock" by AC/DC. There are two gameshark exclusive songs: "Trippolette" and "Graveyard Shift". Though "Graveyard Shift" is relatively easy, "Trippolette" is extremely tough and way harder than any song on the actual game. Each song either has a Rhythm guitar part for multiplayer co-op, or a Bass part.
Without question this is the most revolutionary and fun game ever made.
